My grandson 6 years old has been running elevated temp 101-104 for two days. Goes down with motrin but comes back up. He has a cough, took him to ER and chest xray showed mild peribronchial thickening and I just would like to know what that is indicative of. Im sorry I didnt know that this cost money, I cant afford it right now. Sorry. Im pregnant and having to miss alot of work so funds are stretched. Thanks anyway
peribronchial thickening or bronchial wall thickening, is a radiologic sign which occurs when excess fluid or mucus buildup in the small airway passages of the lung causes localized patches of lung collapse. This causes the area around the bronchus to appear more prominent on an X-ray.Treatment is wholly dependent on the underlying condition that triggered the thickening. If left untreated, extensive cuffing can result in significant narrowing of the airways, making it difficult to breath.it occurs most commonly in pneumonia.it will not cost much if underlying condition is treated early.so visit your near pedriatician. best wishes.
