What Does Mild Period Cramp, Lower Back Pain When Using Monistat 7?
I took am on day 2 of monistat 7. On the first night, I had what felt like mild period cramps, and then last night after using it, I got lower back pain. What does this mean? I started using it because my vaginal area was itchy and burning, and it had a really foul smell.
Monistat 7 contains Miconazole which is an anti-fungal agent used to treat the vaginal yeast infection. According to the manufacturers this can present with side effects like abdominal cramps, vaginal itching, etc. Usually the side effects subside soon. If the side effects persist, better to consult your gynecologist once, get examined to find out the actual cause of the problem.
Sometimes, in case of combined infection, taking antibacterial drugs along with this anti-fungal agent and also using vaginal wash to maintain the local pH can help in relieving the vaginal discharge and itching. Taking antispasmodics can help in relieving the abdominal cramps. Both the partners should be treated simultaneously to prevent future cross infections.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
