What Does Negative Antibody HIV Test Post Unprotected Sex Indicate?
I had unprotected with my ex girlfriend in which I found she was having sex with another 2 guys at the same time and got me thinking of my risk towards std and hiv. I went to the clinic and took a finger prick antibody hiv test after 6 weeks of possible exposure and came out negative. 1) How accurate is my 6 weeks finger prick hiv antibody test? 2) Should I test again in 3 months or should I relax a little since the stress is very overwhelming!?
Hello Finger prick test after 6 weeks of initial contract is highly sensitive(>99.5%) and quite specific . Test done after 6 weeks of initial primary infection so this is negative and specific also , so you didn't got any HIV infection. In my opinion there is no need of any test . But you are under stress , so also get in ELISA test after 3 months of initial contract for confirmation. Hoe this will help you .
