What Does Osteoarthritis Mean ?

My father age 62 yrs, following is an Right knee X-Ray report , please give details. VISUALIZED BONES ARE OSTEOPENIC. RIGHT KNEE JOINT SPACE IS MIDLY REDUCED. PATELLAR SPIKES ARE SEEN. OSTEOPHYTES ARE SEEN FROM TIBAL AND FEMORAL CONDYLES. LOOSE BODY IS SEEN IN RIGHT KNEE. NO EVIDENCE OF FRACTURE OR DISLOCATION IS NOTED. NO LYTIC OR SCLEROTIC LESION NOTED. MILD SOFT TISSUE SWELLING IS SEEN IMPRESSION : RIGHT KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS . please explain what is meant by OSTEOARTHRITIS, can it contain any fluid in joints.

Thanks for query,
As age advances there are degenerative changes take place.
Osteo artherits is such degenerative changes took place in joint.
Osteophytes and space reduction and loose body are result of these changes giving rise to pain,lock joint,stiffness at the joint and restricted movement at the joint.
Go for physiotherapy.
Give calcium,Vit A,D.and multivitamin supplements.

hello,
osteoarthritis is degeneration of joint space, see as ur age progresses ur weight bearing areas ll go for degeneration ...so the knee joint capsules ll go for degeneration n t ll lead to pain n knee joint and also stiffness ll b thr...by the report ur dad condition is in initial stage n can b treated wit drugs and sum postural excercises.
