What Does Pain In The Feet Indicate?

I m a 71 year old dude in great shape. Recently the outsides of the soles of my feet hurt when I stand on a hard surface especially without shoes. Ibuprofen helps but I hesitate to take lots. What dumb thing have i done to my feet or am I just getting old?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain in feet is not very uncommon, if your are otherwise health , I don't thing its any serious, it can occur mostly either with hard shoes, or excessive walk . I would advise you should use shoes with soft soles, and avoid excessive walk fro some times. I would also advise to take some vitamin D and calcium supplements, exercise like stretching the palm may also help. You should talk to your doctor if things don't settle with this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
