What Does Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side Indicate?

I am a 77 year old male. I had surgery for a double hernia 12 or 13 years ago . lately I have been having some pain on the left side of my lower abdomen. It has been there on occassion for some time, but is getting worse to the point that it wakes me at night. any thoughts? my email address is YYYY@YYYY thank you

dear user


this pain you have in lower left abdomen may indicate underlying problem as urinary tract infection or renal stones...so you should do urine analysis test to role out any bacterial infection that may cause that and to treat it with antibiotics if suggested...also you should do abdominal ultrasound scan to role out any renal problems like stones or gravels that may worse by time ....you shouldnot get worry of that as it will be simply detection of the cause when following these simple steps and try till then to drink alot of fluids
