What Does Pinkish White, Hard Bump On Lower Gum Mean?
I have a small hard (almost bony) bump on my lower gum just above the floor of my mouth. Not sure how long it has been there as I noticed it with my tongue the other day. It's very difficult to see due to it's location and size but I believe it's pinkish/white, not movable. Does this sound like a tori? I am seeing a dentist next week but I am concerned. I quit drinking 15 years ago but I use snus on occasion, a few times a month. This is not the area where I put my snus
Considering the mentioned location and description ,I would have suspected it as a tori, which would not usually require any treatment, if I was your consulting doctor.
Mandibular tori are small bony growths that are present on the lingual aspect of the mandible.
Removal of the tori is usually recommended if they are interfering with tongue positioning, speech, denture placement, as well as with poor oral hygiene around the lower posterior teeth.
Relax and have it checked with your dentist and have it excised if needed.
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The hard bump can be a tori or exostosis or osteoma or garres osteomyelitis. Consult a oral physician and get yourself examined. You need to take a radiograph like RVG and occlusal radiograph to rule out the above mentioned causes. If it is a osteoma or exostosis and asymptomatic, we can leave it like that without any treatment. If it is osteomyelitis, then it has to be treated. I hope my answer will help you, take care.
