What Does Positive HIV Test During 36 Weeks Of Pregnancy Indicate?

hi Dr, i am 36weeks pregnant. last week i had the HIV test just almost after 1hour of having a flu shot Today, my doctor informed me that i was HIV positive. But in my 1st trimester i was negative. Please i am confused, my husband is negative, so please what could be the problem?

Hi, thanks for writing..
I would advice to get HIV ELISA test repeated in a reliable lab.. if it is positive, then you could have got it through infected blood or needles if husband is negative.. you have take anti HIV drugs to prevent your baby from getting the infection.. Delivery should be in a well equipped centre so as to give the baby necessary precaution and care soon after birth.. Hope I have answered your query.. good day..
