What Does Positive Gram Cocci In Urine Test Result Indicate?
Hi. I recieved my urinary tests today and It says i have positive gram cocci and 25/u leukocyts, and nothing came out of the bacterial cultivation. I Don t have any ghonorrea symptoms like pain, rash, or green pus, but my girlfriend had candidiasis while she got sick. What could that be?
Thanks for your query at HCM! According to me you are suffering from urinary tract infection as your leucocyte count is quite high from gram positive cocci (It can be S.aureus, Streptococcus). Gonorrhoea microbes are gram negative diplococci. Where you on antibiotics? As your culture is sterile. I suggest if you are on antibiotics then you can continue as your culture is sterile. But if you are not taking any medications I suggest you get your urine culture & sensitivity test repeated (Early morning mid stream sample). Get kidney function test done (S. BUN, S. creatinine) Get tested from a reputed pathology. Kindly describe your symptoms? You might require an ultrasound of abdomen & Pelvis) This is not Candidiasis as report has not mentioned yeast like cells seen. Drink plenty of water. Follow up with reports. Take care!
