What Does Presence Of Gram Positive Cocci In Urine Indicate?

hello doctor My 8 month old baby had his urine checked beacuse it was light pink in color. After the test they say there are few pus calls and occasional epithelial cells debris and few gram positive cocci. What does that mean and why does it happen. What should be done. Thanks SS

Hello,

His urine report suggestive of urinary tract infection.

For that, he needs to be given an antibiotic course.

He needs to be consulted to a nearby pediatrician for detailed evaluation.

It's advisable to investigate with urine culture report as well for further workup.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
