The causes of 35-40 RBC/HPF means high power field in large clumps restricted to mucus in stool are: Ulcer in the colon due to infection. Diverticulitis can also cause the same. Cancer of the colon is the most important diagnosis that needs to be ruled out as early as possible. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult a Gastroenterologist or Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and ask for the most important tests of colonoscopy, biopsy and CT scan of the abdomen along with tests of blood and urine. This will give the most correct diagnosis and a plan for proper management.
