What Does Red Lesion On Clitoris Imply?

Usually during my period I seem to develop a small red lesion on my clitoris and the skin that surrounds it gets one. Not really much pain. No odd smell. No itching. And since I use tampons, there s no discharge. They go away usually a few days after my personal ends. I wear a pad or panty liner do the first 2 to 3 days along with a tampon just in case. I haven t noticed any build up either. Could this be from the pad rubbing when I move around or maybe the string? I tend to pull the string forward bc I don t really like the idea of it being near my bottom.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It might be a small abrasion, develops due to persistent contact with pads. Nothing much to worry and no definite treatment is required. You can apply topical antibiotics ointment, like Mupirocin for symptomatic relief.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
