Good day Doctor,my niece is 21 yrs old three days coughing with fever, today she did chest x-ray and the result is reticular infiltration, could you explain to me doctor what is meaning of reticualr infiltration and may i know if this is serious case.thank you very much Doctor and God bless you Doctor.
Thanks for your question on HCM. Reticular pattern on chest x ray suggest interstitial infection. And can be seen in 1. Viral infection 2. Bacterial pneumonia 3. Interstitial lung disease.(ILD) Since the age is 23 years only ILD appears less likely. More chances of viral infection. CT Thorax is the best investigation for reticular pattern on chest x ray. So if not improve in 5 days than get done CT Thorax. No need to worry at present.
