Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Severe Pain In The Left Ring Finger Indicate?
My husband has rheumatoid arthritis, and he has a new symptom that seems to have appeared quite suddenly. His middle and ring fingers on his left hand are extremely painful. He can't bend them at all or exert any pressure at all. Just a flare? Thanks. (My husband is 70, and was diagnosed 2 years ago--but has probably had RA for years.)
It is most likely from rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but if he has fevers or other symptoms, then it could be joint infections. It would be best for his rheumatoid arthritis doctor to take a look at the joints and make sure they are not infected.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kathy Robinson
