What Does Sore Throat And White Spots On Tongue With Negative HIV Test Indicate?

I had a PCR RNA test done at 16.5 after a somewhat lower risk exposure (vaginal with a CSW) and it came back negative. Just had a 6 week antibody test done and it was negative but over the past week (6 weeks after exposure) I ve had a sore throat with white spots and I m on antibiotics but it doesn t seem to be going away. I don t have a fever or rash. What are the chances that I m HIV positive? I certainly plan to take the 13 week test and at 6 months to be sure, either way. Thank you so much- Extremely Worried

Thank you for query.The chances of transmission of HIV by sexual route is 1/ 200 to 1/2000 even if the partner is HIV infected.As RNA PCR negative you need not bother about HIV at all.you can relax the symptoms are not due to HIV you can take treatment on consulting your doctor for the symptoms.and there is no need for any repeat test again.You can get back for any clarifications with details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and venereologist.
