What Does Spotting After Medical Abortion Indicate?
I had medical abortion yesterday. Nurse has inserted 4 tablets of misprostol into vagina but after 4 hours i had passed out the tablets in urine. I had severe cramps, nausea and diarrehea for 2 to 3 hours but with no bleeding. Today its my 2nd day but i dont ve any bleeding as yet. Its just slight spotting and that is only when i pass urine and clean myself with toilet paper. My question is that is it normal to pass out tablets after few hours of inserting tablets and secondly is low flow of blood or just spotting normal in abortion.
In fact it is strange to pass the vaginal tablets after 4 hours while passing the urine. It means that the medicine has not been absorbed into your circulation sufficiently. Therefore, you are having just some spotting. The medicine will have to be repeated. You may go for the medicine under your tongue or buccaly kept if you fear them again to be thrown out after vaginal insertion.
If this also fails, the you might have to undergo surgical evacuation of the uterus. These medicines cause abnormalities in the baby and hence continuation of pregnancy after the failure of these medicines is not advised.
Please report to your Obstetrician about the event and take the next step ASAP. If the medicine is repeated, please have a follow up visit to the Obstetrician after 7 days or earlier if indicated.
I hope your dilemma is resolved now.
