Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My UGI endoscopy report tells that RUT is -Ve (Superficial Ulcers in duodenum) though D2 is normal I could not show the report to the doctor as I did not get the date reserved. So I am worried about what is this Superficial Ulcer in Duodenum means. Is this something critical and dangerous ? what should be my precaution?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of superficial duodenal ulcers. As the name suggests, the superficial layer of mucosa of duodenum gets abraded and causes the symptoms is pain of burning type in the upper abdomen particularly a few hours after taking food. The treatment suggested is as follows: PPI like Omeprazole Antacid particularly when on empty stomach. Soft bland diet. No stress and/ anxiety. Small frequent feeds. Avoid all the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems. Get a review endoscopy after 6 weeks..
