hi i just wanted to ask a question regarding my grandad he has been admitted after having a tension of 21 could you explain what tension is and what health issues it implies and what is the solution for getting better.he has a healthy lifestyle dont smoke dont drink and is active.thank you for replying

welcome to HCM, most probably your healthcare professional is talking about the intra-occular tension (the tension inside the eye) detailed answer: Elevated IOP is sometimes called ocular hypertension. If your doctor diagnoses ocular hypertension, it does not mean you have glaucoma, but it does mean you are at a higher risk for developing the condition, and you should see an ophthalmologist (a medical doctor who specializes in eye care and surgery) frequently. Your doctor may prescribe medication to lower your IOP. The only way to make sure that these medications work is to take them as prescribed. there are surgeries also for glaucoma depending upon your condition the ophthalmologist will decide
