Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I would like o know what q wave abnormalities involving AVF and III, consistent with inferior infarct. Low QRS Voltage in precordial leads and minor inferior repolarization disturbance consistent with being secondary to infarct means. I was sent these results but I don t know what they mean. YYYY@YYYY
Hi welcome to HCM. Q wave abnormalities can be largely due to post infarct changes in your case.Myocardial infarct can lead to permanent damage of your heart muscle resulting in scar tissue which can lead to intrinsic changes in cardiac depolarization and current flow technique. They are usually representations of old infarct and are benign. Please make sure to have a semiannual baseline ecg and 2 dimensional echo to assess the pumping function of the heart.Electrophysiological study of the heart can identify new arrhythmia if these changes are persistent leading to symptoms. In all such cases radiofrequency ablation can offer permanent cure.Drugs like Ace inhibitors can prevent worsening of heart function secondary to old myocardial infarct.Consult your cardiologist for further queries. Thank you.
