Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for asking on HCM. I read your query.

These figures, including your fasting glucose and the HbA1c levels, indicate a slight elevation of blood sugar, and could be the first signs of type 2 diabetes. Also, I see that you are overweight. I would initially recommend changing the diet and lifestyle: fibre-rich (green leafy vegetables and fruit) and a 60 minute physical activity a day (walking, visiting a gym or a swimming pool). It is very important that, if you consume alcohol - socially or binge drinking, you should restrict your alcohol intake to a maximum of 30 g ethanol a day (e.g. one beer or one glass of wine). My opinion is that you should undertake all these measures in order to lose weight, and test your blood sugar after three month. If the figures are high after three months and after all these changes were undertaken, then I recommend a consult by the endocrinologist (diabetes doctor) to start the appropriate treatment for diabetes.

Feel free to contact me again. I hope I was helpful. Greetings.
