What Does The Hemoglobin Level Of 5.8 Suggest?

dear dr, iwant to take yur suggestion about my sister's health. she is working lady, her recent tests indicates her heomoglobin level is5.8 she used to eat chalk pieces,once before and even betelnuts very ofen, and now present situation of heo level is still fallen down she's under dr's precription.pls suggest regards lakshmi

Hi, You have very low Hb level. Any thing can happen with this hemoglobin level. Even congestive cardiac failure may occure. So go to the hospital urgentely and go for blood transfusion. Then go for complete blood count, peripheral smear examination and ultrasound abdomen to search for the cause of severe anemia. If needed go for Serum iron or vit B12 level. Then take treatment accordingly.
