I just had a mammo yesterday followed with a sonogram of both breasts because I am cystic. I got a call back by my doc for more pics of my left breast. They said the sonogram had no mention of anything wrong but the mammo showed some asymmetry. They want to repeat the mammo. Why was one test OK and the other one has to be repeated???
Mammography used for detection of tumour mainly.... Your sonography revealing cystic lesion... Your doctor just want to rule out malignant mass if present ....because initial small lesion not detected clinically and USG examination... So just repeat it ...
Your clinical watch up necessary....
If no malignancy then it could be simple fibrocystic lesion of breast...
If bleeding , detectable mass, nipple discharge occurs consult immediately surgeon for it...
Take care
