Hi.. In my TBPCR report there is some confusion.Mt reports is showing equivocal tesults.and my doctor said ir is neither negative nor positive.how it will be possible.when i took second opinion my. My doctor said we go for blood biochemistry.I am totally confused.What shoukd I do??
Hello Thanks for your query. TB PCR report may be equivocal and it is always to be judged in appropriate clinical context. Even the false positive rate of TB PCR is very high. If you have the symptoms of tuberculosis like fever, cough, weight loss, malaise and if your sputum is positive then even in the background of equivocal TB PCR result you may need to be treated with anti-tubercular drugs.
