Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 45 year old female, BMI of 45. I have been having some palpitations for the past 3 months. I went to the doctor today and the nurse did an EKG. The results said sinus rhythm, left axis, old anteroseptal infarct. The doctor is referring me to a cardiologist as we feel my mother died at age 59 of an MI---no autopsy. The doctor said the results were probably wrong due to lead misplacement. I guess I was wondering at how confident I can be that this is a false reading. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Dear as said by you your age is 45 years and your BMI is 45 .This much BMI is very important risk factor for ischemic heart disease . Apart form this you have palpitations for last 3 months. Suggestive of everything is not going fine.why their is confusion in ECG if their is any confusion repeat this. If it is suggestive of anteroseptal ischemia then you must start taking proper treatment as prescribed by your physician . Try to maintain your BMI less than 25 . That will decrease your risk of heart attack . Hope this will help.
