Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Such type of osteonecrosis may be due to various reasons like:
1. Osteoarthritis in later stages
2. Trauma or injury
3. Some hormonal disorders
4. Vascular deficit to part of Bone due to various reasons

If you are feeling pain at your knee then I will advice you to consult your orthopedic doctor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mukesh Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
