What Does This Chest X-ray Of Left Upper Lobe Indicate?

Last 2008, I was diagnosed that I have PTB and it was cleared after medication for six months. I ve work for almost 5 years now and annually our company required to have ACU/APE. For the past 4 years, my chest x-ray was normal. However, this year the result of my chest x-ray is left upper lobe fibroid densities. With this, may I know the meaning of it? Hope you can answer my dilemma. Thank you.

Hi! There are a few possibilities in your case. But, the most likely possibility is that pulmonary tuberculosis heals by fibrosis and that fibrosis has left behind some fibrotic densities. As these fibrotic densities are a sign of healed TB, chest X-ray may have been reported normal earlier. However, if I were your doctor, I'd compare all the X-rays and see if the densities reported this year are new or were present earlier. In case of doubt, I'd talk to the radiologist also. Only if, the densities have developed recently, I'd ask for a CT scan to ascertain the cause. Trust I have answered your question.
