Hi,
The pelvic cytology report here denotes that:
- There is presence of chronic
pelvic inflammatory disease, which is usually due to presence of some bacterial or other sexually transmitted infections.
- Due to presence of features of inflammations, it is not possible to point about epithelial abnormality. For pointing about abnormality of
epithelial cells, this specimen is not suitable due to presence of inflammation. Abnormality in epithelial cells are indicators for likelihood of presence of malignancy. Hence, in your case, first the treatment of inflammation is required and afterwards study of abnormal epithelial cells may be undertaken.
-
Atrophy of cells may be age related
hormonal deficiency ,having this effect on the cells. It needs treatment accordingly, may be with Hormonal replacement therapy, if advised by the gynecologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
