Hi good day, I did a Pelvic Ultra sound this evening and got back the report which I appreciate some clarification on the following: 1. The uterus appears anteverted with dimensions of 90 x 56 x 45mm. 2. The myometrium appears heterogeneous. Two fibroids measuring 23 x 17mm and 66 x 49mm are seen. Do this mean the fribroids can be treated with medication of have to be removed surgically? 3. An 8mm proliferative phase endometrium is seen. 4. The lef ovary measures 7cc and the right ovary 9cc. 5. no free fluid seen. 6. Impression: Fibroids. Please clarify this teminologies, it will be greatly appreciated. Roxanne
Your ultrasound report suggests that all the measurements and wall patterns are normal except presence of two fibroids in the uterus. Fibroids are harmless tumors in the uterus. One 23 x 17mm is small can be surely treated with medications. However, the other fibroid is big and though medicines can be started for that, it may require regular follow up. If it does not decrease in size due to medicines or increases, it may require surgical removal.
If you want to understand terminologies, myometrium is the muscle of the uterus, endometrium is inner lining of the uterus which is in the phase of proliferation meaning in mid-cycle.
I hope this clarifies your doubts. Thank you for choosing HCM for your concern. Let me know if I can answer any further question.
