i did an ultrasound scan, and here are the details. Adnexae/pod: there is a significant inflammatory tissue reaction in bothe adnexae as well as in the pouch of douglas causing poor interface between pelvic organs. there is mild free fluid collection in the pouch of douglas. pls what is the meaning of the result?
According to your ultrasound report the possibilities are: - Pelvic inflammatory disease leading to tubal ovarian masses or adhesions along with the presence of free fluid in pouch of Douglas. - Pelvic adhesions due to conditions like endometriosis or any previous pelvic surgeries - Pelvic tuberculosis
The treatment options depends on the cause of the problem. Pelvic infection can be treated with local and systemic antibiotics. In case of adhesions, you may need to undergo diagnostic laparoscopy to confirm the cause of the problem and if needed that can be converted into therapeutic. Pelvic tuberculosis is rare possibility, which needs anti-tuberculous treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
