What Does This Pelvic Ultrasound Test Result Indicate?

Within both ovaries are multiple, small subcapsular follicles each measuring less than 1 cm diameter surrounding a central echodense stroma suggestive of polycystic ovaries. My right ovary measures 2.64cmX3.04cmX2.64, on the other hand, my left ovary measures, 3.45cmX1.95cmX1.98cm. What does that mean?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. Your sonogram report shows the presence of polycystic ovaries. This is a condition wherein the ovaries malfunction with several follicles developing at the same time but not until maturity and ovulation is either inhibited or irregular. This leads to irregular menstrual periods and infertility. The associated hormone imbalance can lead to obesity, hair fall, unwanted hair growth , cysts of the ovary etc. This condition responds to treatment and life style changes very well. Maintain a healthy diet, healthy weight and regular exercise. Please see a specialist for further management. Take care.
