Im a 24 yo female who has been getting progressivly sicker with each year that goes by now. i had an ultrasound on my thyroid and it said that the right lobe measures 5.6x 1.3 x 2 cm and is slightly heterogeneous. The left lobe is 4.8 x 1.2 x 2 cm slightly heterogeneous. within it are two hypoechoic masses at 3.3 mm in the mid medial gland and 5.1mm in the mid lateral gland. both with smooth margins and are hypoechoic with low level internal echeos. it does not have vascularity or calcifications. what does all this mean in terms i can understand?
the first two measurements are the sizes of your right and left thyroid glands. the succeeding measurements are those of your thyroid masses (hypoechoic ones) which could be benign in nature. some of these masses just needs to be monitored as directed. some of it are surgical. the nature of these nodules/masses tho could only be defined thru a tissue biopsy.
