I just had my urine test, and my HPF is 21-50. The normal is 0-4, so what does that mean? I m an older female w/lots of health issues, and I have been diagnosed with kidney infection that didn t go away even after 10 days of antibiotic. But the doctor now says I have UTI, and of course it s the UTI that lead to me getting Pyelonephritis.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Pyelonephritis is infection of kidney, source of infection can be from UTI or from blood stream.
You have to go for culture and sensitivity of urine so that we can find if there is any bacteria nd their sensitivity to antibiotics.
My suggestion is please consult nephrologist or general physician for further suggestions and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Siddartha
