What Does Urine Culture Of Infant With Klebsiella Pnuemoniae Suggest?

Hi! My niece, 45 days old, was admitted for 4 days now because of on and off fever. Her pediatrician requested for a blood and urine culture. The results today was no growth for blood culture but the urine has growth of Klebsiella pnuemoniae? How did it happen to a 45 days old baby? Thanks.

Hellow there,
i have read your question and gone through it.
My opinion on your case is yes it can happen very frequently to this age group. THe cause of the fever is this klebsiella infection, probably.
This type of organism is found normally as a common flora in intestinal tract of human. so sometimes it migrate from intestinal tract to urinary tract ad cause infection to urinary tract. Particular site of infection is urinary tract and it is the reason for fever. Go through the sensitivity report and follow the complete advise of your physician.
You can ask me if you have further queries.Thanking you.
