What Does Vascular Dilatation And Presence Of Dermal Edema Mean?
I'm 27 and have been having diffuse hair loss for 13 months now. I recently had a scalp biopsy and these are the results. Can you help me understand them. Sections of skin show spongiosis and neutrophil-containing parakeratotic scales involving the upper follicular epithelium and peri-follicular area. There are sparse superficial perivascular infiltrates of lymphocytes and occasional eosinophilis. Vascular dilatation and dermal edema present. PAS stain with adepuate positive and negative controls is carried out. Multiple anagen hair follicles are identified. Bacterial colonies are prominent in one hair follicle. What would you say the diag. is?
