What Does Weight 280 Lbs With Height Of 5'9 For A 37 Year Old Suggest?
Im 37 male about 5'9" weight at 280lbs. when i was 4 i had a heart murmur that was cured all on its own. my question is given my current weight and past history what are some of the possibilities of my future health if i continue with the my current weight? please note i use to weight 340 and over the last two years slowly lost 80 lbs but i gain back 20 from walking away from my good eating habits and excersise
Your weight and height calculate out to a BMI greater than 40, which is considered "morbid obesity." In general, regardless of your past history, this puts you at risk for developing diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, heart failure, and related problems, and reduces your life expectancy. I congratulate you on your weight loss and encourage you to get back to your good eating habits. A slow weight loss is the best for taking and keeping it off so don't be discouraged by that. A goal of 200 lbs puts you at a BMI of 29.5, which is still overweight but your risk is much reduced. A weight of 165 would be considered a normal weight for your height. If you carry a lot of the weight in the abdominal area ("apple-shaped") that also increases your risk for the conditions mentioned above. Working on losing another 80 lbs or more should greatly reduce your risk, so get back to your good habits! Hope this helps.
