About two weeks ago I got a really bad cold. Sore throat, pink eyes, bad cough, etc. White bumps began to form on my tonsils. Went to ER. Strep was ruled out. White bumps went away but about a week ago I noticed a white spot on the back of my throat. Looks like a pus pocket. Worried about what it could be. Please help. Emily
As per your query you have white bump on back of the throat or on tonsils . There can be two possibility for whit spot on the throat .
First , it could be tonsil stone that is tonsiliths . Tonsil stones, or tonsilloliths, are formed when this trapped debris hardens, or calcifies. This tends to happen most often in people who have chronic inflammation in their tonsils or repeated bouts of tonsillitis.
There could be possibility of that tonsils are filled with pus .
I would suggest to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may remove the stones and prescribe antibiotics . In some cases tonsillectomy is needed. For now do warm saline gargles which help in removing stones .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
