What Does X-ray Showing Shadow In The Lung Indicate?

what does it mean to have a shadow on your lung? Yesterday someone I know went to the doctor for trouble breathing, docs made them do an xray and said there was a shadow looking thing on their lung. This person is a non-smoker, is healthy and no history of lung problems. Is this something mega serious?

I can understand your patient's situation and problem.
Shadow on the lungs is very vague term.
Shadow can be due to pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung cancer, pleural effusion etc.
Patient also has breathlessness.
So possibility of pneumonia is more.
Shadow on chest x ray needs further evaluation in the form of CT thorax, sputum microscopic examination, bronchoscopic evaluation etc.
So better to consult pulmonologist, first diagnose himself and than start appropriate treatment.
