What Dosage Of Crocin Is Recommended For Fever In A 4 Year Old Child?

Hi Dr.. my kid is having fever since evening. He is 4 year old and around 17 kha of weight. Gave him crocin syrup twice.. once around 8 p.m 6 ml and then another dosage at around 11 p.m 8 ml..fever has not subsided..and it is now 101.degrees...pls suggest..can we give crocin again or any other medicine...or wait till morning

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose (maximum ceiling dose of 500mg) every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.
As your kid is 17 kilos - you can give Syrup Crocin-DS (240mg/5ml) strength at 5 ml every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F.
