What Foods Are Good To Eat When You Suffer From Biliary Colic?
Hello Dr. Rynne, I was diagnosed this AM at Mission Hospital ER with Biliary Colic symptoms from Gallstones, and was sent home with meds and instructions to contact my primary care Physician and referred Surgeon. I have been suffering with the pain for 2 weeks straight. Will contact doctors Monday. Wish the ER doctor had good ahead and admitted me. Need a good diet plan please. Thank you!
Well, there are some nonsurgical methods but these are mostly unsuccessful. You need to change your dietary habits first. Need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol, and spicy food.
You should eat more milk products, vegetables, and boiled food. Ursodeoxycholic acid may be used for smaller stones and may dissolve them and ultrasound waves may do it as well, but success is very limited.
If there is no improvement in lifestyle or dietary changes, then surgery is recommended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
