What Happens When Intermittent Chest Tightness And Breathlessness Occur?

experiencing periodic (once every 3 to 4 months) and brief (2 - 3 minutes) tightening in chest (my right front); usually happens upon waking in the a.m.; no pain & able to breath adequately - subsides gradually after a few minutes; 68 year old male in good shape (5 10 , 160#, non-smoker, run daily, no medications); have experienced about 20-25 of these episodes over last 6 years. Thoughts?

I can understand your concern.
Mid night chest tightness in old age (more than 60 years) individual is more suggestive of cardiac disease.
So in my opinion, you should definitely consult cardiologist and get done blood pressure monitoring, ecg, 2d echo and stress test (trade mill test).
If all these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases.
