What Indicates A Constant Diarrhea With Blood Even After Medications And Diet Control?
for over 2 years now a male friend of mine has had constant diahrrea with blood. He has excessive gas with this he cannot tell the difference if its gas or diahrrea. Sometimes when he gets to the toliet he has the gas and its just blood coming out. He has tried lactoss intolerence, deleting spices and now gluten free for almost a year. Nothing seems to stop this problem. He has gone from 2X size to large size. He will not go to a doctor to have this checked he is 67 years old. What do you think is wrong with him
Persistent blood in stool for 2 years associated with weight loss is very serious. Could be many different conditions, all which need medical care. Your friend may have ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or even a colon carcinoma. In addition he may have anemia due to the blood loss and electrolyte imbalance such as low potassium or low magnesium. Celiac disease for which he has switched to a gluten free diet, does not cause blood in the stool. I urge your friend to seek medical care.
