What Is Flexeril Used For?

My daughter-in-law is taking suboxone to treat her heroin addiction and is currently eight months pregnant. Recently, she tested positive for cyclobenzaprine/flexeril which I understand is currently in use by drug users as an opiate potentiator. Is this correct and should I be concerned? She claims her doctor prescribed the flexeril.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Suboxone is Naloxone and Buprenorphine. Buprenorphine is an opioid partial agonist drug. The drug is commonly used in opioid de addiction to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Flexril is a muscle relaxant and the drug is also commonly prescribed to patients in opiate withdrawal to relieve muscle pain. Usually the drug is not a drug of abuse so no need to worry about that. There is possibility that the drug has been probably prescribed to her by doctor.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
