My 16 month daughter has a hard lump on top of her head, it apears to be where her soft spot would be. Dr said it could either be her skull not forming right or worst case could be cancerous. we have to wait till next week to find out what is wrong with her. do you have any ideas? It is not tender or soft or moving. It feels like bone. best way to describe it would be like she bumped her head got a lump but this one has not went away. Should we be concerned???
Hi,Welcome to Health care magic forum. As you describe it appears to be the union of the cranial bones, and due to over growth of the bone ends had the projection. The soft spot,at the vertex, slowly hardens, and the union takes place. But to be on safe side, consult a neurologist for clarification of the intra cranial structures in comfortable position. You may need to have a C.T. scan for confirmation. Observe the stepping stone like sitting, walking, talking and be in touch with your doctor. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
