What Is Best Medication For Breathlessness?

I am an asthma patient and a casual smoker too. I suffer from acute breathlessness when negotiating stairs or in monsoon s sticky environment. I take Theophylline 400mg 1 tablet twice a day. Which one should I prefer Theophylline or Deriphylline retard?...............

HI

Thanks for posting your query .

You didn't mentioned your age . Both theophylline and Deriphylline retard has to be used cautiously in people older than 60 years and people with Heart problems or Kidney problems .

If you were my patient I would have started you on Inhaler medicines instead of these tablets as Inhalers are more safe , more effective and they reduce the chances of acute severe attacks of asthma .

I advise you to ask your doctor for a prescription of Inhaler medications .
I find this answer helpful
