What Is Causing Breathing Difficulty, Itching All Over Body And Break Outs?

my boyfriend has a picc line. he went to the emergency saturday having a difficult time breathing he also has been itching all over and sometimes breaks out. what could be causing this? the doctors we seen said he was just having panic attacks. could that be it or is it more?

I can understand your boyfriend 's situation and problem.
We need to first rule out allergy to PICC line.
PICC line is made up of plastic and latex material.
So in some patients, this material can cause delayed allergic reaction after 48-72 hours.
Allergic reaction manifest as itching all over the body and bronchospasm (breathlessness).
So better to get done complete blood count and eosinophil count. If this is raised than he is having allergy to PICC line.
But if blood report is normal than he might be having panic attack.
So discuss with your doctor about possibility of allergy.
