What Is Causing Irregular Period Along With Lot Of Flatulence? Taking Eltroxin For Thyroid And On Atkins Diet
I m more than 30 days period late, this is not the first time to happen to me, it happened before from time to time. But this is the first time to happen twice in a row.. I have been experiencing alot of flatulence lately with no apparent reason.. I m on Eltroxin 100 as thyroid treatment after removing it 3 years ago.. all my hormonal levels are normal and I m NOT pregnant! Have been on Atkins diet for 2 months.. lost 4 kgs in 2 months.. no sever dieting just improving my food intake but no starving or anything. I had a minor surgery 5 months ago for decreasing my stomach size.. lost 10 Kgs since then (10 kgs in 5 months) I m 34 years old.. 160 cms tall and 77 kgs weight.. what do you think might be the cause of the irregular periods and should I be worried? Thanks for your help.
The most important clue from your query is that you have been diagnosed to be hypothyroid. Hypothyroidism in itself can result in various changes in the menstrual cycle and so the irregularity you are experiencing would be a side effect of the condition.
I would doubt normal hormone levels in your case and so would suggest re-testing and thus correction accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
