Sir, My mother is suffering stating that her left leg below the ghutna is feeling senseless and very heavy just like sleeping leg. She won t be able to walk comfortably and walking only with the help of other person and feeling much pain, kindly advise what to do
This could be related to the degenerative changes in the knee joint leading to such symptoms as the muscles of the knee extension the quadriceps are weak and the hamstring too. The co-contraction of both the muscle groups in ordinance helps the stability of the knee joint and avoid buckling.
I will advise to do hot water fermentation to the knee joint, and make her do some simple exercises. Like with the help of someone reverse walking with slow pace so fall can be avoided.
Lying down exercises like - static hamstring and static Quadriceps. Ankle toe movements and straight leg raise.
This should help her activation of the knee stabilization muscles which will, in turn, help her to be independent soon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
