What Is Causing Mucus In My Throat?

I am male, 36, no more stressed than most in London.

Every morning I retch. It seems to subside by mid morning. I have also noticed increased difficulty clearing/swallowing mucus (which seems to get stuck in my throat). Recently I have cold symptoms with blocked nose and ears and sore throat. But I have also noticed the the sore throat extends to my hard palate and that the palate is asymmetric (lump on left hand side which seems almost like a tooth that wants to grow out).

I have a suspicion that I am swallowing air in trying to swallow and I seem to get a lot of wind, which I assume is air and not from my food.

Does any of this link up in a meaningful way? What is going on?

Thanks!

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
Yes they are related as you have throat irritation.
There could be two things --
1. nasal allergies / disease like blockage, discharge etc if you have,,,, as the nasal discharge fall back in throat and irritates it.
you need to consult your ENT specialist to get examination and CT scan nose with plain coronal views limited cuts,, if required to rule out any disease in nose and paranasal sinuses
2. You cant swallow much of air as it will cause belching. There could be reflux disease ie reflux of food from food pipe to throat. Take care of reflux, It is one of the reason for recurrent throat irritation ,, it doesnot matter you feel heart burn acidity or not.
Take--- Antacids and antireflux medicines .
Precautions—
Keep head end of bed elevated.
Avoid alcohol, Smoking
Do brisk walking daily
Go for walk after dinner
Avoid spicy food
Avoid late night coffee
