My husband is taking esoz 20mg , two times a day (morning and Night). He is taking this tablets from past 2 years. He was severely affected with IBS. For this purpose doctor has advised him to take this tablets regularly. Now a days the IBS problem has been reduced to 20%. Still he is continueing this tablet. Now a days he find that his tounge is going tasteless from past one month. what is the reason for tasteless tongue.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. A patient of IBS can have many other associated problems like fibromyalgia, heartburn, neurological problems like changed taste, psychological problems with psychosomatic problems. But it is better to have an opinion of a Neurologist for evaluation of the cranial nerves particularly for the sensory nerves of tongue. Taste tests can be conducted at a lab whether he has real loss of taste sensation or alteration or has been malignaring. He needs a proper evaluation and may be change of the medications for IBS. Stress and anxiety are the commonest causes of IBS and should be treated appropriately.
