What Is Fairbanks I Changes Of Knee?

I have been having problems with my knees hurting, crunching and popping in the back of my leg. Sometimes it feel like my knee is going to give out on me. Four years ago I hurt my RT knee and I went to the Dr. and he said in his report that the xrays reveals very early Fairbanks I changes. So, can you tell me what is Fairbank I. Have any suggestions to what I should do about my knee? It really didn't start hurting until about 7 mos. ago.
